Hard Charger Award

Hard Charger Rules

2007 Stover’s Net Connection Hard Charger Award Rules

Each week throughout the regular season, the track will calculate the number of positions each Pure Stock driver is able to advance from his or her official starting spot to their official finishing position in the feature event. For each position advanced, the driver will be awarded one point. For example, if a driver officially starts 12th and finishes 5th, he would earn 7 Hard Charger points. The biggest advancer each week will be given $25.00 for being the "Stover’s Net Connection Hard Charger of the Race". In the event of a tie for a particular race, the driver with the lowest starting position will be deemed the “Hard Charger” for that week.  The $25.00 award will be given to the weekly “Stover’s Net Connection Hard Charger of the Race” at the payout window when the payout for the feature event is available.

In addition, points will be accumulated over the entire points season, and a "Stover’s Net Connection Hard Charger of the Year" Award, along with $200.00 will be given to the driver who has accumulated the most points at the annual Lernerville Speedway Awards Banquet. Only races in which a driver advances and finishes better than they started will be counted toward the annual awards. Races in which a driver fails to advance or finishes in a position lower then their start will not count and will not reduce their overall points total.  A tie for the “Hard Charger of the Year Award” will be broken by the number of individual race hard charger awards each driver earned during the season. Should that not break the tie, the winner will be determined by who is higher in the points standings at Lernerville Speedway.  Special races throughout the season will not count toward hard-charger points, as only regular points events will count.

A driver’s “official starting position” is defined as the position he or she is in when the initial green flag is thrown to begin the event.  Should a driver opt to tag the field of an event, their official starting position will be the position they were originally supposed to start the race in.  In the event that one or more drivers scratch from the feature event, the official starting position of each driver in the feature will be the position in which they were to originally start the event.

Should a driver, through normal tech inspection or any other means (i.e. for fighting), be disqualified from the event for any reason, he or she will lose all hard charger points earned for that event.  If the winner of the hard charger of the race award is disqualified from the event for any reason, not only will they lose their points for that event, but the $25.00 award will go to the driver who passed the second most amount of cars in that event.
